On June 19th, it’s World Martini Day and we’re not sure about you but we cannot wait for this global day dedicated to the classic cocktail. 

Martini’s are one of the most popular cocktails and have been enjoyed across the world for centuries now. 

In the third week of June, cocktail lovers across the world come together to raise their glasses and celebrate with a nice refreshing tipple (maybe not just one!).

The History Of The Martini Cocktail 

The exact origins of the martini cocktail are unclear, but the alcoholic beverage is thought to have evolved from earlier cocktail recipes, like the Martiniez.

This was a popular cocktail in the 1860s made with gin, sweet vermouth, maraschino liqueur, and orange bitters. 

Over time, the Martinez evolved into the martini, with dry vermouth replacing the sweet vermouth.

Nowadays, the martini remains an iconic and timeless cocktail which is enjoyed by people in every corner of the world. 

World Martini Day is celebrated on June 19th is the perfect chance to raise a glass and toast to this beloved gin and vermouth based beverage!

1. Classic Martini 

You can’t go wrong with a classic martini cocktail, and you only need a few ingredients so it’s super simple to make. 

To make this BBC Good Food recipe, you just need to stir in 60ml or gin or vodka,1 tbsp of dry vermouth and a little ice and put them into a cocktail shaker and combine together. 

Once you’ve combined your ingredients you’ll need to strain into a chilled martini glass and then serve with an olive on a cocktail stick or a twist of lemon peel.

Voilà, your classic cocktail is all ready to go – cheers!

2. Vesper Martini 

How do you like your Martini? Shaken, not stirred. 

The famous drink, The Vesper was invented by author Ian Fleming for the iconic British secret agent, James Bond and features in the book and film, the Casino Royale. 

The original recipe invented by the other for his fictional story combines gin, and vodka with Kina Lillet, which isn’t available anymore and is commonly subsisted with Lillet Blanc or dry vermouth.

With a slightly sweet and bitter taste, the cocktail is made by combining 3 ounces of gin, 1 ounce of vodka, and ½ ounce of Lillet Blanc or dry vermouth in a cocktail shaker. 

Next, you need to shake well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a lemon peel. 

Now serve and enjoy!

3. Chocolate Martini 

Are you after a boozy chocolate martini? If so, we’ve got a recipe which you’re going to love.

Whilst James Bond would be quaking in his boots over this cocktail, this indulgent chocolate recipe is perfect for those with a sweet tooth! 

To make it yourself, you’ll need to pour 2 tbsp chocolate syrup onto a plate and dip the rim of martini glasses into the syrup to coat the rims, then drizzle the inside of each glass with chocolate syrup. 

Now, you need to combine 115 ml of Baileys, 115 ml of chocolate liqueur, and 115 ml of Smirnoff vodka in a large cocktail shaker. 

Make sure to fill the shaker with ice and shake until the outside of the shaker feels very cold. 

Now divide evenly for you and your guests, and top with shaved chocolate if you wish.

4. Kylie and Kris Jenner’s Dirty Martini Recipe 

Kylie and Kris Jenner’s Dirty Martini recipe went viral on TikTok and we’re obsessed. 

So, how do The Kardashian stars make their famous martini? Kris Jenner states her simple method is “Ice in the shaker. Belvedere vodka. Shaken, not stirred.”

To make this cocktail perfection according to the iconic mum and daughter duo, you need to add 2 1/2 ounces of Belvedere Vodka, ½ ounce of dry vermouth, ½ ounce of olive brine to a cocktail shaker filled with ice, and shake until well-chilled. 

Next, strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a skewer of olives and your drinks worthy of the Jenner’s are ready to serve!

5. Pineapple Martini 

With summer approaching fast, one cocktail recipe you need to try to get you in the mood is this fruity and refreshing Pineapple Martini. 

This recipe from TikTok is super tasty and easy to make, using 3 oz Stoli Vodka, 2 oz Pineapple Puree, 1/2 oz Lime Juice, 1/2 oz Simple Syrup as well as a splash of Grenadine. 

First, you need to add some sliced pineapple and 3 spoons of brown sugar to a blender and mix together, then add some ice to a glass. 

Now, add in the remainder of your ingredients aside from the grenadine and shake in a cocktail glass. 

Once everything is mixed together, add a splash of grenadine and serve with some pineapple for garnish!

6. Lychee Martini 

For a fun twist on the timeless cocktail why not try whipping up a Lychee Martini? 

Despite taking a little longer than other recipes, if you’re hosting friends over for World Martini Day, this drink tastes amazing!

Here’s how you can make this recipe from Jamie Oliver, you’ll need to put 1 lychee into 2 cocktail glasses and place them carefully in the freezer for around 20 minutes. 

Once they’re really cold, you’ll want to put 2 more lychees into a cocktail shaker, along with some ice, a splash of lychee syrup, 150ml of vodka and a splash of vermouth. 

Now you’ll want to shake vigorously for 30 seconds and strain into your iced cocktail glasses. 

If you fancy, you can serve with swizzle sticks! 

Lychee Martini 

7. Butterfly Martini 

If you’re after a stunning floral drink to make this World Martini Day, we’ve got a recipe that you’re honestly going to love. 

The method to make this Butterfly Martini is easy, you need to combine 2 oz of gin, 1 oz of elderflower liqueur, ¼ oz of crème de violette, ¼ oz of hibiscus rose syrup and ¼ oz of simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. 

Next, you need to add ice and shake for 20 seconds before pouring into a martini glass and serving with an orchid to garnish. 

Go on then, mix up a storm for yourself!

8. Pomegranate Martini

Pomegranate lovers go crazy for this fun drink, and we can sure see why. 

If you want to quench your thirst with something delightful, this Pomegranate Martini recipe is ideal. 

It’s made using 1 1/2 ounces vodka, 1/2 ounce premium triple sec, 1 ounce pomegranate juice, 1 splash freshly squeezed lemon juice as well as a lemon peel for garnishing.

In a cocktail shaker you need to pour in your vodka, triple sec, pomegranate juice and lemon juice and fill with ice, before shaking well. 

Next, strain into a chilled cocktail glass (freeze your glass beforehand) and then garnish with a lemon peel. 

Once you get a taste of this tipple, you’ll never go back!

9. Lemon Drop Martini 

Calling all lemon cocktail lovers, this refreshing martini recipe is one you NEED to try! 

A sweet and sour take on a vodka martini, this lemon drop martini recipe is created by mixing together 25 ml of Smirnoff vodka, 15 ml of triple sec,  20 ml of fresh lemon juice, 7 ml of sugar syrup and some lemon wheel for garnish.

Firstly, fill your shaker with ice before coating the rim of your martini glass with lemon and sugar. 

Now, add in all of your ingredients to your cocktail shaker and shake well, before straining into your martini glass. 

This drink is worthy of any swanky dinner party, try it and see what you make of it!

10. Watermelon Martini

If you’re searching for a fun and tasty cocktail for World Martini Day, this next recipe is for you. 

This watermelon martini is made by combining salt and sugar in a small bowl and pouring onto a shallow plate, before moistening the rims of 2 glasses with a piece of watermelon. 

Now, dip the moistened glass rims into the salt and sugar mixture before setting to one side. 

Next, pour 1 cup of watermelon juice, ¼ cup vodka, ¼ cup watermelon schnapps and 2 tablespoons simple syrup and lime juice into a cocktail shaker over ice.

Strain and pour the mixture into your martini glass and garnish with a watermelon wedge if you’d like!
