1. Quinn’s Cafe

Don’t be put off from the exterior of this place, Quinn’s Cafe is not one to miss when it comes to breakfast spots in Edinburgh.

Claiming the number 1 spot on Trip Advisor, this small independent cafe offers a delicious range of dishes on their all day brunch menu.

From full Scottish breakfasts to morning rolls to scrambled egg on toast to toasted paninis, this spot has it all.

They also offer a variety of speciality teas and coffees as well as tasty cakes.

Make sure to try their rocky road brownies!

Whether it’s heading to the cafe for a relaxing brekkie or ordering for delivery on TastyFind, give this cafe a go.

2. Salt Cafe

This next breakfast spot in Edinburgh is ironically situated on Morningside Road, it’s the perfect place to go in the morning – get it?

For a cosy atmosphere and an all day breakfast menu like no other, Salt Cafe is your best bet.

Everything on the menu at this place is made in-house, with the butcher even making the bacon and sausages from scratch.

So, you can be rest assured your brekkie will come fresh and tasty.

If you’re wondering what to order, they have a variety of savoury, sweet and small plate options on the menu.

Our favourite dish is the Steak ‘N’ Eggs, it’s amazing.

The coffee here is one of the best flavoured and textured you’ll find, our go-to order is their Gingerbread Latte!

3. Seven Neighbourhood Cafe

With its colourful art-lined exteriors, Seven Neighbourhood Cafe stands out from the rest when it comes to breakfast hangouts in Edinburgh.

For amazing colourful dishes which will get those DMs flooding in with “where’s this?!” you have to head to this spot.

Have a wholesome catch up with your mates and try out the mouth-watering House Breakfast paired with an organic juice.

Seven is situated in the heart of Edinburgh on Home Street so, take a visit for yourself and see if it’s as good as people say!

Housed in a former art gallery, Toast offers a unique vibe you won’t find anywhere else – we’re obsessed with the name, aren’t you?

Despite being a little further afield in Leith, it’s worth taking a mooch down to this place for the very best breakfast Edinburgh has to offer.

For a hearty start to the day, order their Wild Mushroom and Sausage Shakshuka with a cup of cold-pressed juice.

5. Tani Modi

If you’ve not already taken a trip to Tani Modi then we’re sure their authentic Italian dishes will win you over.

Located on Hanover Street in Edinburgh New Town, this cosy hangout offers some post-night out dishes which are a must try.

Their breakfast menu includes fluffy pancakes to toasted wholegrain bagels to fry ups to breakfast rolls, so they’ll certainly be something to entice you.

Their breakfast options are served until 3pm so you’ll have plenty of time to head here with your pals.

If you’re in need of a little pick me up, they offer a selection of quality teas and coffees for you to try too.

6. Fortuna Coffee Bar

For an aesthetically pleasing breakfast that tastes as good as it looks, head on down to Fortuna Coffee Bar.

If you’re after a greasy fry-up to aid your hangover, this isn’t the place for that.

Located on Queen Street, you’ll find healthy and warming options like berry bowls, hazelnut toast, ham and cheese Croissants and cream cheese bagels here.

Their menu also includes a variety of hot and cold drink options depending on what your early morning go-to is.

From herbal teas to chai lattes to fresh juice to sparkling water.

Yet to experience all that this coffee bar has to offer? Plan a mate date and give it a go.

7. The Spence

For more of a luxurious breakfast vibe, take a visit to The Spence in St Andrew Square.

Head Chef, Jonny Wright creates world-class produce from across Scotland on the menu here.

With dishes such as sweetcorn fritters, avocado and poached eggs as well as Glen & Co smoked salmon.

If you’re after something a little different they also offer a variety of classic breakfast dishes with a twist as well as pastries, breads, fruits and grains.

The only thing is, breakfast is only served from 7am until 10:30 am so if you’re after a later start to your day, you might have to move on to their lunch menu!

8. Scran New Town

If you’re a breakfast enthusiast living in the city centre, Scran New Town will become your new favourite.

You’ll find this bright and cosy café inside North Bridge Arcade.

With classic sweet and savoury options to choose from, it would be silly to miss out on this place.

Our favourite has to be their ‘Hangover Cure’ pancake stack, it’s in the name!

Don’t worry, they have plenty of vegan, veggie and gluten free options on their menu so everyone can have an egg-cellent start to the day (no pun intended).

They open from 9am daily so if you’re on the move before heading to campus, check it out and see what you make of it!

9. Rabble Taphouse and Grill

Rabble Taphouse and Grill is a great place to visit with your mates to enjoy a mouth-watering breakfast and let the good times unfold.

This hip bar and restaurant is housed inside a 4-star hotel on Fredrick Street.

They pride themselves on providing a classy yet casual vibe, and they couldn’t be more right.

We’d suggest trying their Scottish morning roll or the cinnamon french toast, but we’ll leave the ordering up to you!

Prices are on the dearer side when it comes to breakfast in Edinburgh, but nonetheless you get for what you pay for.

10. Greenwoods Edinburgh

Greenwoods hails from Amsterdam, but in 2020 the owners decided to open another location in Edinburgh, and we’re so glad they did!

With an inventive breakfast menu offering up traditional English breakfasts and brunch dishes, it’s a must-try.

They offer seasonal, locally sourced and great tasting food like their full Scottish breakfast, eggs Florentine and banana bread tumble.

If you’re after a delicious coffee to perk you up for the day ahead, their coffee is supplied by The Good Coffee Cartel and taste amazing.

We’d go for their salted caramel latte.
